Fancy Yellow
are the most common of all fancy colors and are likely the only colored diamonds most people will ever see in a jewelry store. They obtain their color through nitrogen impurities at the atomic level, which may require a specific arrangement or additional defects. It is believed that all natural diamonds begin as yellow diamonds, but over time, deep within the earth at high temperatures, they lose their color due to nitrogen aggregation. The "Tiffany Diamond" is the most famous and, at 128.51 ct., perhaps also the largest yellow diamond.
